There are many types of giving. One type is organized, let's call it "formal giving", which is deliberately planned and the process is through an organization, this can be a monetary contribution to organizations such as Unicef, Peace Corps, Feeding America, etc, or this can be donating time as a mentor for children or teens, donating blood in local blood drives and hospitals, and more. Another type is called "Informal contribution", where one sees a need and feels an urge to address it, for example, there was a shooting in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, and the day after, hundreds of people set out to local blood drives and hospitals to donate blood, as we discussed before, this is called a "formal" contribution.

Those people were lined up in a scorching parking lot with barely any shade, patiently waiting for their turn to save a life. Someone in the line saw an opportunity and jumped on it, he drove to the local grocery store, filled up several carts with bottled water, snacks and sunscreen, and with a huge smile on his face, he started handing out the water and snacks and sunscreen to the soon to be donors in the line. A passerby witnessed this scene, and did the same "grocery run" too. These heart-warming actions are called "informal contributions".

Whether your salary is 50K or a million dollars, you can make a positive impact with your contribution to society. Search for a cause that will inspire and encourage you to convey your resources, whether financial, energy, emotional, creativity, or time. Harvest that motivation into energy and find your calling. Social resources such as emotional support are unlimited, they can't dissipate, or go to waste and therefore when one gives support, they will never run out for themselves, unlike time and money where the more one distributes, the less one has for himself.
